The PHCA is a member of the American Kennel Club (AKC). It is the only national Pharaoh Hound breed club recognized and sanctioned by the AKC, whose duty is to preserve and protect the breed and its official breed standard. ACTIVITIES
The Pharaoh Hound is a versatile breed that is a highly intelligent sighthound with a great nose. Today’s Pharaoh Hounds are successful in agility, obedience/rally, conformation, lure coursing and as therapy dogs. PHARAOH HOUND HEALTH SURVEY
All pharaoh hound owners and breeders are encouraged to fill out the PHCA Health Survey. All PHCA members are required to submit their information annually. The data is used in aggregate and is kept confidential. PHCA uses this information to assess the health issues of our breed.
Living with Pharaohs
This is an active, high energy breed. They need to exercise and play hard to stay physically and mentally fit. That being said, a pharaoh hound does not make a good “outdoor” dog. They are very people oriented and need to be active family members in order to thrive.

Pharaoh Hound Rescue
The PHCA rescue committee is chaired by three regional representatives in an effort to provide the most thorough coverage in potential rescue situations. Fortunately, there are very few Pharaoh Hounds that enter our rescue program each year. Individuals interested in adopting a rescued dog are required to submit an adoption application.
